Rodger Spence, 76, of Effingham, died at 5:04 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 at Effingham Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Pastor Jack Stoops officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Beecher City with military rites by Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post 512 and Gieseking-Schwertdfeger V.F.W. Post 7676. Visitation will be for two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Rodger Wayne Spence was born on Monday, October 22, 1945 to Ralph and Geneva (Sheppard) Spence in Chatsworth, IL. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. He worked in maintenance at the Colonnade Apartments, Effingham for many years.

He is survived by sons, Randy (Melanie) Spence, Wayne City, IL, Ryan Spence, Effingham and Rodney Spence, Effingham; daughters, Vicky (Jeff) Adams, Effingham, Brandi Spence, Jewett and Rebecca Spence, Effingham; siblings, Jerry (Sandra) Spence, Larry Spence, Beulah Spence, and Mary Anderson, all of Bloomington; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Roger Spence; brothers, Chuck, Kenny, Phil, Bob and Richard Spence; and sister, Esther Iseminger.
