Carol Ann Rohr, 87, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Helia Healthcare of Newton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 18, at the church, and again 10-10:30 a.m.Tuesday, July 19 before the mass. Carol was born on May 5, 1935, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Hamilton and Geneva (Elder) James. She was a graduate of Newton Community High School with the class of 1953. Carol was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She worked at Marshall Brothers Furniture in Newton and was district manager for Avon. Carol was also a caregiver doing home health care for many years. Carol was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a past member of the Newton Junior Women’s Club.

Carol is survived by: Children – Bruce Rohr of Effingham, Illinois; Laurence (wife Bambi) Rohr of Springfield, Illinois; Elizabeth (husband Dean) Swingler of Newton, Illinois; David (wife Teresa) Rohr of Olney, Illinois; and daughter-in-law Karen Rohr of Torrey, Utah; Grandchildren – Justin (wife Renee) Swingler, Nathaniel Rohr, Morgan Swingler and Olivia Rohr; Great Grandchildren – Ava Swingler and Ellie Swingler; Siblings – Roger (wife Carol) James of Dundas, Illinois; Dan (wife Kay) James of Haubstadt, Indiana; Mary Simonson of Chatham, Illinois; Ilene (husband Pat) Adams of Heltonville, Indiana; John (wife Linda) James of Marshall, Illinois.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, sons Linton Rohr and Michael Rohr, brother David James and his wife Gail James, and the father of her children Al Rohr.
