Janyce J. Rubsam, age 75, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 10:07 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Mass celebrating Janyce’s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Janyce, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Catholic School. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left by clicking here.

Janyce was born on December 11, 1946, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Joe and Marjorie (Strutner) Barthelme. She was a graduate of Newton Community High School, class of 1965. She married her high school sweetheart Thomas Rubsam on August 10, 1969. Janyce and Tom owned and operated Rubsam Paint Store in Newton, Illinois, serving Jasper and surrounding counties for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. Janyce enjoyed traveling, collecting sea shells and rocks to remember her adventures. She displayed her collected treasures amongst her flowers. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren. Her kindness to others and love for her many friends throughout the years will be greatly missed.

Janyce is survived by – Husband of 52 years – Tom Rubsam of Newton, Illinois; 2 Children – Doug Rubsam of Newton, Illinois and Andy wife Sara Rubsam of East Lansing, Michigan; 4 Grandchildren – Carley, Kyle, James and Audrey; 5 Siblings - Ed (Diana) Barthelme of Aiken, South Carolina; Robert (Carolyn) Barthelme of Newton, Illinois; Marsha (Mike) Boyle of St. Louis, Missouri; John Barthelme of Olney, Illinois and Tom (Renee) Barthelme of Newton, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.

Janyce was preceded in death by her parents.
