Anna Mae Yates, 84, of Farina passed away at 2:43 am Sunday, July 3, 2022 at the Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem, Illinois.

Anna was born on August 13, 1937, in Fayette County, Illinois, the daughter of Martin and Lena (Wodtka) Gesell. She married Wesley Lowell Yates on July 2, 1955, at Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Farina, and they shared 46 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 3, 2002. Anna worked for Brown Produce in Farina for over 30 years. She loved her family dearly and especially loved seeing her grandchildren. Anna had attended the Frieden’s United Church of Christ in Farina.

She is survived by her children, Kevin Yates of Farina, Curtis (Lori) Yates of Farina, Lesia (Mike) Bowman of Mason; daughter-in-law, Ronda Yates of Alma; grandchildren, Miles (Amber) Yates of Missouri, Bethany (Andrew) Lowry of Alma, Jada (Logan) Sherry of Missouri, Courtney (Tucker) Garrison of Farina, Caleb Yates of California; great grandchildren, Ella & Emeri Yates, Bentley & Layla Garrison, Weston & Adalyn Sherry; step grandchildren, Opheliah, Oliver, and Blaise Lowry. She is also survived by a sister, Gladys Guerrettaz of Farina.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Randy Yates; 6 brothers, Glen, Leon, Don, Vanley, Lawrence, Kenny Gesell; and 1 sister, Bernice Bergmann.

Funeral services honoring Anna’s life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Kinmundy. Burial will follow at the Ambuehl Cemetery, St. Peter, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning at the funeral home where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
