James E. Lofland (77) of Vandalia

James F. Lofland, 77, of Vandalia, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown with Nathan Brands officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00pm. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Randolph House.

James Fleming Lofland was born on Friday, November 24, 1944 to James Elmer and Corlena J. (Beck) Lofland. Corlena later married Fred L. Wasser, whom he regarded as his dad. After James’ mother/father passed, his step brother Freddie Wasser (Chicago) became his legal guardian. James moved to Chicago and enjoyed the big city-assisting with his brothers’ restaurant, working for Toys-R-Us, going to baseball games, taking lots of pictures, traveling, and music for 25 years. James then returned home to Vandalia, IL. Staying at the Randolph House, working at Fayco, and enjoying a good life thanks to Ronnie and the staff for going above and beyond the last 20 years.

He is survived by his step brother, Fred R. Wasser of St. Louis, MO; many cousins in the Vandalia and Ramsey area; and his friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents.
