Edward W. Sheffield (68) of Effingham

Edward W. Sheffield, 68, of Effingham, IL, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A public memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 with private family services to follow at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Research Foundation. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here. 

Edward was born September 27, 1953, in Amory, MS, the son of Bob and Bettie Sheffield. He married Cathi Ledger on December 15, 1989. Ed was a loving father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. He attended Plano High School in Plano, IL. He worked 21 years at All-Steel in Aurora, IL where he made many life-long friends. His next adventure with his family was a move to Effingham, IL where he lived for the next 33 Years. For most of those years he worked at Bob’s Discount which was owned by his father and mother, Bob and Bettie, and later his younger brother, Danny. Ed was an avid Harley Davidson rider. If you knew Ed his daily attire was his blue jeans, leather boots and one of his many Harley t-shirts. He loved fishing and working with his hands. Hanging with family and friends was his greatest joy. He always had a joke or a prank to make you laugh.

Ed is survived by his wife, Cathi Sheffield of Effingham; daughters, Melissa (Brian) Delphey of Sandwich, IL, Penny (Bill) Burt of Monticello, MN, Patty (Kris) Day of Effingham, IL, Lindsay Williams (Emilio); one son, Rick (Cassie) Williams of Effingham; grandchildren, Brock and Casey Delphey, James Burt, Hailey and Makenna Wright, Lilly, Tristian, Kris Jr., Eliza and Gavin Day, Dawson and Sophia Williams, Laela, Jenner, and Henley Keyes, Asher Snyder, Saige Endebrock, Emily and Ezra Cruz; siblings, Linda (Bob) Rieman, Carolyn (Keith) Olson, Tony (Vicki) Sheffield, Kathe (Dave) Schlapp, Danny (Kelly) Sheffield, and Bob (Lisa) Sheffield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Bettie Sheffield; father-in-law, Bob Ledger; mother-in-law, Nancy Ledger; and one niece, Abbigail Sheffield.
