Ila Marie Staton (89) of Effingham, formerly of Beecher City

Ila Marie Staton, 89, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Beecher City, went to join the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 1:04 a.m. at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.
Ila, also known “Sister”, a childhood nickname she proudly answered to, was born in Cottonplant, Arkansas on March 16, 1933 to her parents Joseph and Annie (Phillips) Robertson. She married Edward Staton of Taft, California in 1949 and they divorced in 1965. Ila had no children of her own, but she was loved and cherished by her sister’s children and grandchildren: Dedra Linn (Sandra Loy), Stacey Barker (Stacy Musson), Joseph Haywood (Kim), and Susan Martin (Jason).
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Robertson and Phillip Robertson; sister, Audrey “Sue” (Robertson) Haywood; nephew, Kenneth Haywood; great-nephew, Johnathan Warner; and great-niece, Jessica Warner.
As per Ila’s wishes, her body has been donated to science to further research on Huntington’s Disease. The family requests memorials be sent to the Huntington Disease Society of America, 508 8th Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
A private Celebration of Ila’s Life will be held at a future date. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.
