Viola Rosalee Warren (96) of Effingham

Viola Rosalee Warren, 96, of Effingham, IL, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Updated Service Information: Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Effingham with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Viola was born on November 10, 1925, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Louis and Alma (Boggs) Hastings. She married Robert Warren on October 1, 1943 and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1986.

Early on, Viola had worked at the Heart Theater and at Stevens Grocery. Most of her life though, she was a Nurse’s Aide and caregiver for local families. Viola was a member of First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, and cared for the children in the church nursery. Family was special to Viola and she was a devoted mother. She was also the Matriarch of the family that kept them together.

Viola is survived by her children, Robert Lee (Marsha) Warren of Effingham, Jeanne (David) Bushue of Mason, and Cherie (Terry) Ray of Strasburg; grandchildren, Jason Hartman, Jennifer Hartman, Vincent (Autumn) Warren, and Brad (Nicole) Warren; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; daughter, Marilyn Hartman; grandson, Jeff Hartman; brothers, Bill Hastings, Louis Hastings, Jim Hastings, and Bob Miller; and sister, June Mitchell.
