Margaret Ann Wood (88) of Flora

Margaret Ann Wood, 88, of Flora, passed away at 6:20 pm Monday, May 30, 2022 while residing at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Margaret was born January 10, 1934 - the first child to Raymond “Elby” and Ruby A. (Stanfield) Pierson. On July 19, 1954 she married the love of her life, Paul L. Wood, Jr., in Roseville, MI. They made their home in Taylor, MI for 14 years before returning to Clay County. She was a consummate caregiver beginning with her brothers and sisters when she was a small girl, to her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with retiring from Addus Homecare after serving 25 years.
Margaret is survived by a daughter-in-law: Rosemary (Stephen) Wood, of Louisville, sons, William (Beverly), Donald (Barbara) & David (Beverly) all of Flora, Brian (Jody) of Fairfield and one daughter, Sarah (Robb) Bute, of Harrisburg, Illinois. Grandchildren are: Shaun (Rob) Martin, Eric Wood, Lucas (Rachael) Wood, Ethan Doud, Brittany Wood, Blaine (Amber) Wood, Casey Bute. Step-grandchildren are: Malerie (Corey) Knop, Blake McCormack, Robbie (Nadie) Bute, Keo (Mandy) Bute, Joey (Amber) Simpson. Her Sisters are: Betty (Martin) Plemmons, Nancy Weidner, of Louisville, Janice (Don) Oliver, of Evansville, Indiana. Brothers are: Bill (Freda) Pierson, of Rome, Georgia, and John (Linda) Pierson, of Louisville. Sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (Bill) Fester, of Godfrey, Illinois, Virginia (Carl) Behrens, of Newburg, Oregon. She is also survived by 19 Great Grandchildren, and 33 nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Stephen. Also preceding her in death were sisters Martha (her twin died at birth) and Ruth Pierson. Brothers who preceded her are: Jean, Phillip, Jim (Shirley), and Darrel (Janet) Pierson. Sisters-in-law preceding her are: Margaret “Margie” Wood, Elizabeth (LeRoy) Fordyce, JoAnn (Wes) Wooden, Barbara (Roy) Phelps. Brothers-in-law who have preceded her are: John (Joy) Wood and James Wood. She was finally preceded by one niece, Tammy Lewis.
She also leaves behind her special friends, and care givers, Rose Anderson and Chris Stidham.
Funeral services honoring the life of Margaret will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial will follow at the Shouse Chapel Cemetery in rural Bible Grove. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home where friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
