Lucille Fern Eckelberry (78) of Fairfield, formerly of Flora

Ms. Lucille Fern Eckelberry, 78, of Fairfield and formerly of Flora, passed away at 7:27 am Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Brookstone Assisted Living in Fairfield.
Lucille was born on January 9, 1944, in Olney, the daughter of Lester and Phoebe Anna (Loudermilk) Osborn. She worked mostly in the Flora area, as a home health provider for Addus Healthcare. Fern, as she was referred to by many of her family and friends, loved to grow flowers. She always had many plants around her house and later in her apartment. She was a crafter, loving to sew and crochet. Lucille was an avid dog lover, and she had a passion for donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to help fight childhood cancers. She had been attending the Xenia Community Church in Xenia when she could.
Lucille is survived by her 2 daughters: Sherry (Mark) Wells, of Fairfield, Penny (Richard) Dunn, of Xenia. She is survived by her 9 grandchildren: Carissa Lawson, Carl (Crystal) Dunn, Amanda (Harry) Sills, Amber (Kenny) Dagg, Elisha (Robert) Bowling, JoAnna (Adam) Allen, Andrea (Josh) Boyd, Jordyn (Dustin) Strange, Laura (Ethan) Steury. In addition, she has 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Shaun Dunn. Also preceding her were 5 brothers; Paul Osborn, Carl Osborn, John Beal, Tom Beal, Gene Osborn, and 2 sisters; Ruth Heckler, and Virginia Moats.
Funeral services honoring the life of Lucille will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 3, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Flora, with Pastor Adam Allen officiating. Burial will follow at the Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont. Visitation will be held on Friday morning at the funeral home where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lucille’s memory to SSM Health Hospice of Mt. Vernon, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted through the funeral home.
