James Vincent "J.V" Frohning (79) of Ingraham

James Vincent “J.V.” Frohning, age 77, of Ingraham, Illinois, passed away at 2:20 PM Saturday, May 28, 2022, in rural Ingraham, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, with Fr Mark Stec celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin, Illinois, with military rites. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the church and 1 hour before the mass. In loving memory of J.V., memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Catholic Church building fund.

James Vincent, better know to his family and friends as “J.V.” was born on March 11, 1945, in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of William and Mary (Deimel) Frohning. He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1963. J.V. was united in marriage to Marilyn Butler on June 18, 1966, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and she survives. J.V. was a lifelong farmer and had worked at Tri-County Ag. He was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Clay County Sportsman Club, Volunteer Fireman for Ingraham Fire Department and served as an election judge for South Muddy Township. J.V. served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1968 to 1969. J.V. was an avid fisherman, Newton Eagles Fan and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and watch them play sports. He also enjoyed hunting.
J.V. is survived by: Wife of 56 years – Marilyn Frohning of Ingraham, Illinois; Children – Darren (Amy) Frohning of Sainte Marie, Illinois; Michelle (Josh) Ross of Casey, Illinois; and Brad (Jessica) Frohning of Newton, Illinois; Grandchildren – Alex (Karly) Frohning, Kyle Frohning (Suzanne), Abby Frohning (Zach), Emma Ross, Cort Ross, Nick Ross, Payton Ross, Hunter Frohning (Julia), Wade Frohning and Keatan Frohning; and a great grandchild due in October; Siblings – Vic (Lou) Frohning of Mt Erie, Illinois, Dorothy Croy of Sailor Springs, Illinois; and Dan Frohning of Ingraham, Illinois.
J.V. was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Stacey Frohning, brothers Robert, Leo and Gilbert Frohning and a sister Ruth Butler.
