Billy Joe Cox, 74, of Quincy, IL and formerly of Jewett, IL passed away at 9:30 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday June 2, 2022, at the Jewett Community Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 am till service time on Thursday at the church. Burial with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in the Jewett Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.
Billy was born in Effingham, IL on February 16, 1948, to Joseph & Helen (Brown) Cox.
Survivors include brother Stanley Cox; sisters Pat Gentry and June Bland; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Albert and Larry Cox; sisters Olive Gray, Barb Lueken, Rose Russell, Joanne Miller and Rita Kay Cox.
Billy served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-70. He had been a Laborer with Union Local 703 in Champaign, IL. He was a member of the Jewett Community Church and the Greenup American Legion.
