Shawn Lynn Bourland (62) of Effingham

Shawn Lynn Bourland, 62, of Effingham, IL, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2022 at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Shawn was born on December 19, 1959, in Effingham, IL. She married Gayland Bourland on May 11, 1985 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effingham.

Shawn was a dedicated RN and worked as the WIC Coordinator at the Effingham County Health Department for 37 years. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and was very active, playing many roles, including serving as the Bell Choir Director. Along with her husband Gayland, Shawn was a co-owner of Noah’s Ark Pet Shoppe in downtown Effingham. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and cooking, but first and foremost, she was a Grandma.

Shawn is survived by her husband, Gayland Bourland of Effingham; daughter, Molly (Kristopher) Lipe of Effingham; step-son, Jacob (Rose) Bourland of Missouri; grandson, Elijah Lipe; step-grandchildren, Andrew and Dakota Bourland; mother, Faye (Allen) Tomkins of Effingham; sister, Sheryl (David) Griffin of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Scott (Jenny) Moore of Effingham; and step-brother, Richard (Laura) Tomkins of Columbia, IL.
