Lucille Ellen Tarpley, 85, of Flora passed away at 4:50 am Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Heritage Woods in Flora.

Lucille was born on December 20, 1936, in Effingham County the daughter of James and Thelma (Campton) McWhorter. She married Charles E. Tarpley on October 23, 1999 and they shared 17 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 9, 2017. Lucille worked as a CNA for the Flora Gardens Care Center and the Flora Rehab and Health Care Center for many years. During her life Lucille enjoyed many different activities some including growing a big garden and canning the crops she grew, in later years she loved to go to community BINGO and the last few years loved to socialize with the other residents at Heritage Woods. Lucille was a member of the Community Southern Baptist Church in Clay City.

Lucille is survived by her children; Randy (Brenda) Dane of Clay City, Loretta (Rob) Jones, of Salem, Diana (Steve) Sessions, of Bible Grove, Tim (Shelly) Dane, of Knoxville, Tennessee, step daughters; Lisa (Steven) Sulkin, of Vernon Hills, Illinois, Linda Otto, of Libertyville, Illinois, grandchildren; Jami, Marissa, Ethan, Cheyenne, and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Cleta Colclasure, of Farina, Leona Butts, of Michigan, Leroy Campton, of Funkhouser, Illinois, sister-in-law; Della Ann Deain, of Flora.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; Kenneth Dane, grandson; Bryce Dane, brothers; Jim McWhorter, Lonnie McWhorter, Billy McWhorter, Larry McWhorter, Jerry McWhorter, sister; Eda Cook.

Funeral services honoring the life of Lucille will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville with Pastor Dave Starr officiating, and burial will follow at Red Brush Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday where friends may call from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lucille’s memory may be made to the Community Southern Baptist Church, and will be accepted through the funeral home.
