Violet Avery, 70, of Farina, died at 6:29 p.m. Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Lloyd E. Avery, 72, of Farina, died at 4:19 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

They were married on January 25, 1986 in Macon County, IL.

A graveside memorial service will be held for both at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Old Loogootee Cemetery, rural Farina, IL. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Violet Irene Avery was born on June 11, 1951 in Decatur, IL to Harold E., Sr. and Darlene May (Becker) Mason. She was a graduate of Brownstown High School. She is survived by: her son, Tommy Thompson of Lincoln, IL and his wife Tina Thompson of Vandalia; grandchildren, Elijah, Rebecca, Daniel, Ezekiel and Zachariah. Sisters, Lauretta (Donald) Bauer of Altamont; Chery (Mark) Bacon of Bloomington, and Gloria Mason of Bloomington; brothers, Eddie (Bonnie) Mason of Aztec, New Mexico & Lawrence (Jan) Mason of Vandalia; and many nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by: her parents and sister, Opal in infancy.

Lloyd Everett Avery was born on Tuesday, August 30, 1949 in Marion, IL to Lloyd Harry and Mildred Lucille (Newton) Avery. He graduated from Calumet High School in Gary, IN and was a retired over-the-road truck driver. In addition to their son and grandchildren, whom he and Violet loved and enjoyed being grandparents to, he is survived by siblings, Enda (Bill) Sutton of Griffith, IN; sister, Darla Hopson of Hammond, IN; and brother, Ronald Avery of Hammond, IN. Friend and cousin, Bill (Judy) Swindle of Bloomington, IL. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents.
