Vernon Eskew (84) of Effingham

Vernon Eskew, 84, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Effingham Rehab and Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at First Church of God in Effingham with Pastor Richard Artis officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Vernon was born on December 30, 1937, in Effingham, IL, the son of Floyd Amos and Lesta M. (Logue) Eskew. He attended schools in Effingham. Vernon was employed at Peerless from 1969 to when he retired in 2000. He also loved being involved with the Effingham Ham Radio group for many years. Vernon enjoyed bowling, camping, hunting, and fishing.

Vernon is survived by his sons, David (Peg) Eskew, Michael (Connie) Eskew, Christopher (Phyllis) Eskew, and Stephen (Kelly) Eskew; sister-in-law, Judy Eskew of Urbana; granddaughters, Samantha Eskew, Stacey (Michael) Osborne, Haley (Jake Carter) Eskew, and Cheyenne Eskew; grandsons, Travis (Kaitlin) Eskew, Hunter (LaKotaDawn Saunders) Eskew, and Anthony Eskew; great-grandchildren, Kadance Elizabeth Eskew and Erin Michelle Gilley, Warren and Addison Osborne, Remington and Raegen Gates, and Raiden Eskew; special nieces, Susan Schmidt, Karen Boggs, and Mary Tosh; and special nephews, Jim Schmidt and Jerry Eskew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Schmidt; brothers, Daniel “Boone” Eskew, Robert “Bob” Eskew, Gerald “Jody” Eskew, Paul Eskew, and Raymond Eskew.
