James Arthur Titus 73, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born December 20, 1948 in Charleston, Illinois the son of Gerald Titus Sr. and Marjory (Moody) Titus. James married Melody Conner February 2, 1973 in Mattoon, Illinois. Mr. Titus worked as a self-employed Delivery Contractor and a Groundskeeper at Jenning's Park in Neoga, Illinois. Jim proudly served in the United States Marines in Vietnam and was a member of the Votaw - Swank American Legion Post 458 of Neoga, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Titus of Neoga, Illinois; Children, Jason Titus (Joanie) of rural Toledo, Illinois and Sarah Titus of Memphis, Tennessee; mother, Marjory Titus of Neoga, Illinois; grandchildren, Brody Titus and Elizabeth Titus; and brother, William Titus of Janesville, Wisconsin, Brothers - in - law Steve Conner (Pat), Terry Conner (Lila), and sisters – in – law Carolyn Orndorf (George), and Karen Lee (David), many nieces and nephews and dear friend Brad Cordes and his dog Penny.

James was preceded in death by father, Gerald Titus Sr.; brothers, David Titus, Robert Titus and Gerald Titus Jr., and nephews, Gerald Titus III. & Brian Conner.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and find the first mushrooms of spring. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bears & Illini play. He also loved watching his granddaughter Liz play softball. Being “Gramps” made him very proud. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and he passed on his passion for the outdoors to his son and grandchildren. His daughter Sarah was the sparkle in his eye and he was very proud of her for her professional accomplishments and love of adventure. He valued his time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by them, however we are not saying goodbye, we are saying see you later.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice House of Sarah Bush Lincoln Mattoon, Illinois.

As per Mr. Titus' wishes Cremation Rites will be accorded and a Celebration Of Life Open House will be held 4pm – 7pm Saturday April 9, 2022 in the Neoga American Legion in Neoga, Illinois. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday April 11, 2022 in the Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, Illinois with Military Services by Neoga American Legion Post 458. The family suggests casual attire, wear your favorite Lake Land Softball, Illini, Cubs or Bears shirts.
