Anthony Lee "Tony" Nees (54) of Cowden, formerly of Shelbyville

Anthony Lee “Tony” Nees, 54, of Cowden, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, near Shelbyville, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the family in care of Howe and Yockey Funeral Home.

Tony was born on February 15, 1968, in Decatur, IL, the son of Etta Mae Nees. He attended Shelbyville High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. Tony began working at Road Master in Effingham, IL, and later worked at Guy’s Steakhouse, The Farm House Restaurant, McDonald’s, and International Paper. He was currently working at Hydro-Gear in Sullivan, IL. Tony enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.

Anthony is survived by his mother, Etta Mae Keppler of Effingham, IL; partner, Nina Cox of Lakewood, IL; sons, Jori Nees (Charlene) of Charleston, IL, Kody Nees of Tower Hill, IL; daughters, Harlie Gill of Herrin, IL, Katherine Best (Reed) of Shelbyville, IL, Julia Nees (Ryder Marshall) of Shelbyville, IL, and Ashley Loder of Effingham, IL; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Keppler; and father, Larry Keppler.
