Jo Beth ‘Jody’ Bauer, 76, of St. Elmo, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Lutheran Care Center’s Gathering Place, Altamont. Jody's children and grandchildren will welcome family & friends from 3-6pm on Monday, April 11th. Come share memories of Jody, enjoy food (Jody's kids have always teased her "It's always about the food with you, Mom”) & fellowship. In lieu of flowers memorials are asked to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jody was born on Thursday, October 11, 1945 in Effingham, IL to Clyde C. and Eleanor L. (Devore) Jenkins. She married John E. Bauer in February 1964 and they later divorced. After raising her family, she returned to school and became an LPN and worked for Marshall Clinic until she retired. She was known for her not so gentle voice that matched her smile and unmistakable laugh. Jody's greatest joys were spending time with family, planning family gatherings, and holidays, luncheons with her friends, and cooking and baking. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Elmo.

She is survived by: her son, Thomas (Theresa) Bauer of Altamont; daughter, Amy Fritcher of Neoga; “daughter-in-law”, Carmen Hall of St. Elmo; brother, Phillip (Sandra) Jenkins of Benton; grandchildren, Paula Jo (Greg) Brown, Nick Bauer, Jake Fritcher, Jessica Fritcher and Andrea Fritcher; step grandchildren, Steven and Austin Redfern; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Harley Jo, Witten, Abel, Bodhi and Kyleigh; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jody was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard Bauer (March 13, 2020) and granddaughter, Jill Megan Bauer (April 16, 1992).
