Donald James Cochran, 67, of Haubstadt, Indiana, and formerly of Salem, Illinois, passed away at 4:42 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Donald was born on January 25, 1955, in Olney, Illinois the son of James Verdy and Betty May (Lambert) Cochran. He married Karen Maurer, on November 16, 2020, in Louisville, Illinois. Don worked as a conductor on the Union Pacific Railroad for many years, having retired in 2020. Don also worked for a time at World Color Press, Salem, a heating and a/c technician for a time. After he married Karen and moved to Indiana, he was very involved in the Christian Fellowship Church, in Evansville, which he was a member of. He assisted in the church’s foster care mission, and helped at the Evansville Rescue Mission, which was a homeless shelter there. Don loved to be outside, gardening, fixing things, but above all he was a man of God and loved his family dearly.

Don is survived by his wife; Karen Maurer, of Haubstadt, Indiana, 2 children; Kelly (Daryl) Miller, of Avon, Indiana, Melissa (James) Williams, of Centralia, Illinois, 3 step children, 6 grandchildren; Pierson Miller, Cameron Miller, Mylo Miller, Noah Williams, Owen Williams, Lily Williams, 6 step grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister; Judy Burroughs.

Funeral services honoring the life of Don will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville, with James Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Don’s memory to the Evansville Rescue Mission, and will be accepted through the funeral home. Due to health concerns related to COVID-19, it is recommended that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
