Larry Wayne Doty, 61, of Beecher City, entered eternal peace on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Larry the son of Robert and Bonnie (Beck) Doty was born on March 2, 1960, in Shelbyville, IL. He married the love of his life Rebecca (Becky) Siddens on August 22, 1981, in Altamont, IL. They were blessed to share 40 wonderful years together. Together they raised two daughters, Ashtyn and Allyson. The joy of Larry’s life were his family and friends, but all who knew him in his later years understood his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Larry was a member of the Beecher City High School Class of 1978. After high school he worked at World Color Press, then eventually was able to join his dad full-time on the family grain and livestock farm. Larry and Becky worked day in and day out to create what is now Doty Family Grain Farm. Larry was fully invested in his girls’ activities, including 4H, sports, rodeo, and hunting. Since the beginning, Larry had a “need for speed.” From his 1973 Camaro Z28 to his most recent 1979 Ford F250 race truck, all who knew him knew how much he enjoyed his vehicles. Larry had many other hobbies in his life including riding his favorite mare, Toddy, with his many good friends. His favorite places in the world were anywhere with (Larry’s) Becky, spending time with family, drinking coffee with his coffee crew, his combine cab in the fall, coyote hunting, lunch at the Pit Stop, working on his truck in the shop, and helping anyone in need. Larry was a kind and giving soul he would do anything to help his neighbors and friends, he was just a phone call away.

Larry was very active in the community. He was a founding member of the Beecher City Track Events board. A member of New Hope Church, OMRO, and Effingham County Pork Producers. Larry was also a trustee on the Tri-County Fire Department and a former board member of the Beecher City Unit 20 School Board. Other than husband, dad, and grandpa, Larry’s favorite title was “head-honcho” at Doty Family Grain Farm where he enjoyed bossing around his favorites Craig ‘Doty’, Nathan ‘Doty’, and Joe ‘Doty.’

He is survived by his beloved wife, Becky, daughters, Ashtyn (Nathan) Mellendorf of Mason, IL, and Ally (Craig) Anderson of Beecher City, IL. Grandchildren: Kambryn Wayne and Ryland Mellendorf, Will and Wade Anderson. Sister: Donna Arnold of Winter Springs, FL. Many in-laws, sibling-like cousins, and close friends.

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, mother and father-in-law Donald and Patricia Siddens, niece Sara Kirkpatrick, and many dear aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at New Hope Church in Effingham. Burial will be in Beecher City Cemetery in Beecher City. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

In memory of Larry’s enormous, charitable heart, please make memorials to God’s Will and Wade CF Foundation, 445 E 1800th Avenue, Beecher City, IL 62414 (godswillandwade.org).
