Etta Mae Bowman-Baker, age 78, of Newton, Illinois, and formerly of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 AM Monday, February 1, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Etta’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Amazing Grace Community Church, 1903 15th Street, Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours (11:00 – 1:00) prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Bridgeport City Cemetery in Bridgeport, Illinois. Etta Mae was born on April 4, 1943, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Alger and Cleo (Stevenson) Waters. She married Clarence Jack Bowman Jr. in 1958, and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1995. She married Jessie “Whitey” Baker and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2017. Etta was a member of the Amazing Grace Community Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois, American Legion Auxiliary Lawrence Unit #28, Lawrenceville Moose Lodge #799. She enjoyed dancing, karaoke, shopping, traveling but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Etta Mae is survived by 5 children - Debra Hamilton of Bridgeport, Illinois; Donnie (Paula) Bowman of Bridgeport, Illinois; Jack (Tracy) Bowman of Sumner, Illinois; Ann (Keith) Judy of Newton, Illinois and Janet (Mickey) Hilscher of Port St. Joe, Florida; 12 Grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and another on the way.

Etta Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son Robert Bowman, grandson Bradley Stoltz, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
