Terry Amos Tucker, 81, of Cowden, IL, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Cowden Free Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Neville and Pastor Don “Satch” Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to Cowden Free Methodist Church or to the funeral home for the family. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Terry was born on July 20, 1940, in Fayette County, IL, the son of Hadley and Mary Eleanor (Jerome) Tucker. He graduated from Cowden High School in the Class of 1958. Terry served his country in the United States Air Force. Terry worked as an over the road truck driver, logging over 3 million miles. He drove for Rose City Express, High Grade, Yellow Freight, and Mid-Illinois Concrete in Effingham. He also owned and operated his own trucking business. Terry was a member of the Cowden Free Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed fishing, eating, traveling, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, riding motorcycles, visits at the Liar’s Table, and spending time with his grandchildren. If you knew him, you have surely heard his stories. To know him, you loved him. He was a caring man.

Terry is survived by his only child, Penny Shasteen (John) of Shelbyville, IL; three grandchildren, Blake Tucker (Nikki) of Shelbyville, IL, Breck Calame (Jessica) of Cedar Rapids, IA; and DJ Holster (Katy) of Midland, TX; four great grandchildren, Teri “Kaytlin” Tucker and Todi “Gracee” Tucker both of Shelbyville, IL and Hadlee Holster and Easton Holster both of Midland, TX.. bonus great granddaughters, Makenna Poe, Maycee Howell, Marley Howell and Maddy Howell; brother, Stanley Tucker (Carolyn) of Carbondale, IL; sister, Brenda Klein (Tom) of Effingham, IL, and Marlys Thomas (Don “Satch”) of Cowden, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
