Ruby Wilson, age 91, of St. Elmo, Illinois, passed away at 7:55 AM Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at her home.
Funeral services celebrating Ruby’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Jack Stoops officiating. Burial will be in the Block Cemetery south east of Greenup, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM Saturday, January 29, 2022, at the funeral home. Ruby was born on February 15, 1930, in Jasper County, Illinois. the first child of Olen Everett and Edna (Sparling) Cook. She married Leland Wayne Wilson on March 12, 1949, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1996. Ruby was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, gardening and raising flowers.
Ruby is survived by: Children – Brenda Wilson of Teutopolis, Illinois; Jeff (Shelia) Wilson of Mason, Illinois; Inez (Bryan) Hawickhorst of St Peter, Missouri; Paul Wilson of Teutopolis, Illinois; Julie (Wayne) Cornell of Effingham, Illinois and Edward (Crystal) Wilson of St. Elmo, Illinois; 22 Grandchildren; 43 Great Grandchildren and one on the way; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren and one on the way.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Dennis and Larry Wilson, grandson Blake Wilson, siblings Ruth Hathaway, Russel Cook, Raymond Cook, Ralph Cook, Richard Cook, Doyle Cook and David Cook.
