Lawrence Heiser (75) of Altamont

Lawrence Heiser, 75, of Altamont died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Charleston.

There will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Altamont. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lawrence Henry Heiser was born on Sunday, January 13, 1946 in Effingham, IL to Henry and Helen (Richert) Heiser. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. Following graduation from Altamont Community High School he served in the U.S. Army. During his working career he was employed at the Vandalia Correctional Center as a guard from 1975 to 2000.

He is survived by: his children; Jeremy Heiser of Altamont and Chelsie (John) Pontious of Altamont; 9 grandchildren; sisters, Jeanie (Ray) Deters of Teutopolis, Ruth (William, Jr.) Nuxoll of Effingham and Alice Durbin of Altamont; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and HSHS Hospice for their care.
