Juanita J. McCollum, 83, of Flora passed away peacefully at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Flora Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Flora.

Juanita was born on October 1, 1938 in East Alton, Illinois to Carl Leon and Alta Marie (Ross) Shoryer. She married Lowell McCollum, Jr. on October 28, 1967, and they shared 42 years of marriage before he passed away in 2009. Juanita was a homemaker. She loved to cook and to do word search puzzles. She loved to go fishing.

Juanita is survived by her step-children Lillian Louise (John) Young of Vincennes, Indiana; Gloria L. McCollum of Clay City; and Brenda Lee Gaines (Randy Dane) of Clay City. She is also survived by 3 step-grandchildren; special friend; James (Amy) Kilduff of Olney; Larryallan Gaines of Flora; and Kyle Gaines of Olney. Juanita is also survived by one sister Carol Marie Rinehart of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, ½ sister; Linda (Dale) Dennis, of Blue Springs, MO, ½ brother; Donald (Carlotta) Shroyer, of Newburg, IN, and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McCollum was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son in infancy, Lowell Randall McCollum, and one brother William “Buck” Shoryer, step-father; Robert Payne.

It was Mrs. McCollum’s wishes for cremation with a private family service held at a later date. McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville is entrusted with the care and arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
