Warren was a lifelong resident of Effingham. He attended Effingham High School where he first displayed his athletic abilities as a basketball player. He was later named to the Effingham High School Basketball Hall of Fame. His high school days ended when, as a senior, he enlisted in the United States Navy following the events of Pearl Harbor. After returning home following the war, he married the love of his life, Eulala Habbe. Two sons were born, Greg in 1948 and Dave in 1952.

Warren went on to build a successful wholesale business, Warren Habbe Wholesale. However, most people locally knew of Warren because of his amazing dominance as a pitcher in the popular Fast Pitch Softball Leagues of the 1940s and 50s. For those who actually knew Warren, his business and athletic abilities were of secondary importance. He was known to be a man of deep faith, a humble man of principles and integrity, thankful for all of God’s blessings. The world is a better place for Warren having been part of it. The void of his absence will be long felt. We have all been blessed beyond measure to have had him as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. We’ll see you soon, Dad!

He is survived by his two sons, Greg and Dave; three grandchildren, Eric, Rachel, and Max; and one great-granddaughter, Kyri.

Warren was preceded in death by Eulala in 2010.
