Herbert W. “Herbie” Ort, 79, of Edgewood, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 4:30 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, November 26, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood, Illinois from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edgewood Cemetery or the donor’s choice.  Burial will be at a later date. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.

Herbert was born February 20, 1942 in Edgewood, Illinois to William O. and Dora M. (Cox) Ort.  He lived a fulfilling life as a father, grandpa and friend. He was a retired oilfield worker after 35 years, a retired Edgewood volunteer firefighter after 25 years, a member of the Sons of the Edgewood American Legion for 22 years and a member of the Edgewood Cemetery Board for 33 years. He enjoyed his time watching old black and white westerns, spending time with his grandkids, family, and friends. Herbie was very cantankerous.

Herbert is survived by three sons, Rodney Ort, Kenton Ort (wife Tricia) and James Ort; one daughter, Myranda Fender (husband Joey); 11 grandchildren, Derek Ort (fiancé Kali), Tyler Higgs, Brock Stortzum (wife Chrissy), Mycala Ruffner (husband Joey), Andrew Ort (special friend Kelly), Cody Parr, Cory Parr, Shayla Watkins (husband Dakota), Kailey Butts, Michael Butts, and Ella Enlow; 14 great-grandchildren, Molly, Brooklyn, Paisley, Maverick, Lillian, Olivia, Axhle, Ledger, Payton, Lane, Gabriel, Brody, Walker, and Elijah; one sister, Dollie Franklin (husband Leonard).

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dora Ort and one son, Hank Ort.
