Jerry Crain, 72, of Vandalia, died at 11:37 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Four Mile Christian Church, rural Brownstown with Wes Bell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to Four Mile Christian Church or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.

Jerry R. Crain was born on Tuesday, June 21, 1949 in Springfield, IL to Elva Lynn and Edith Irene (Gilpin) Crain. He married Phyllis Hopkins on December 10, 2014. He was a member of Four Mile Christian Church, a life-time member of the NRA, and retired from Firestone, Decatur. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, camping, RC cars, and anything outdoors. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family. He loved family cookouts during the summer and holidays so that he could spend time with those he loved most.

He is survived by: his wife, Phyllis of Vandalia; son, Scott Crain of Vandalia; stepsons, Wendell Reynolds of Decatur and Nathan Reynolds of Logansport, IN; daughters, Barb (Toby) Tackett of Brownstown and Tammie (Clint) Murray of Vandalia; brother, Larry (Donna) Crain of Texas; sisters, Jean (John) Lassiter of Oregon and Karen Bain of Michigan; grandchildren, Jeni Tackett, Levi Tackett, Kati (Drew) Johnson, Kayla (Anthony) Fladeland, Bayli (Zach) Miller, Shane Murray, Madi (fiancé, Ross Althoff) Crain, Riley Crain; step grandchildren, Benjamin, Justin, and Blake Reynolds, Stephanie (Daniel) Sperber, Mercedes (Adrian Linares) Reynolds, and Erica Reynolds; great grandchildren, Kaden, Keili, Kendall, Beckham, Sophia, and Lilly.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Crain, brother-in-law, Kenneth Wilham, sisters, Bev Wilham and Mary Kay Crain in infancy.
