Phyllis Ann Niemerg (94) of rural Dieterich

Phyllis Ann Niemerg, 94, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at her home in rural Dieterich. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Dieterich. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the St. Aloysius Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. 

Phyllis was born June 18, 1927 in Lillyville, the daughter of Clarence and Bernadine (Hartke) Swingler. She married Ralph J. Niemerg on September 11, 1948 and he preceded her in death in 2015. Phyllis was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Dieterich and a member of the Ladies Altar Sodality. She loved growing flowers and gardening, but her special treasures were her family.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, David (Mary), Paul (Leah) and Jerry, all of rural Dieterich; daughters, Connie (Andy) Kerner and Wanda (Vernon) Ruholl, both of Teutopolis; 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Koebele of Teutopolis; sisters-in-law, Janice Niemerg and Alice Swingler, both of Teutopolis.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband and daughter-in-law, LeAnn; brothers, Donald (Rosella), Eugene (Eileen) and William Swingler; brothers-in-law, George Koebele, Clarence (Irene) and Leonard Niemerg.
