Lucille A. Reardon, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her home in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to Effingham Retired Firefighters Association. Lucille was born September 20, 1925 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Braun) Waldhoff. She married Daniel Reardon on January 29, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1991. Lucille and Dan owned Reardon’s Market for many years. Lucille taught many young employees to respect all of their customers and also taught many of them how to count change, a skill not well known today. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital in the Dietary Department for 30 years, a job she truly enjoyed. Her grandchildren were her life- she would hold those babies all day if she could.

Lucille left behind many loved ones including 5 children: Mary Jo (Nick) Althoff, Kathy Scott, John Reardon, Bob (Wanda) Reardon, and Judi Reardon Daughter-in law Nancy Reardon. 2 brothers: Richard Waldhoff and Leonard (Vickie) Waldhoff  Grandchildren: John Althoff, Angie Dust, Kelli Roberston, Holly (Greg) Newburn, Ryan (Joan) Reardon, Dustin (Alysa) Reardon, Brent (Roxana) Reardon, Bryan (Janni) Scott, Stacey Scott, Dylan Scott, Nicole Willis. Step-grandchildren: Melissa (Kenny) Ferris, Doug (Jodi) Quast, Brian (Melissa) Quast, Rob (Sarah) Quast, Crystal (John) Overvig, Beverly Abbott. Great-Grandchildren Andrew (Ashley), Danny ( Kaitlyn), Brett, Kaitlyn, Mitch, Derek (Michaelea), Zach, Haiden, Ethan, Jacob, Abigail, Wyatt, Jake, Jasmine (Vincent), Jenalee (Kobi), Robert, Trent, Jaxon, Ashlyn, Madyson,Allyson, Deven, and Tony. Step-Great Grandchildren Nicholas (Kaylee), Kennedy, Jacob, Baylee, Madison, Trevor, Dawson, Kinley, Madison, Payton, Hailey, Ashley and Adam; Great-Great Grandchildren Kyndal, Amelia Jo, Lance, and Declan. Step-Great Great Grandchildren Braxton and Silas.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Cliff; brothers, Virgil “Bud”, Junior and Dale Waldhoff; sisters, Marian (Kenneth) Siler and Patricia (John) Schumacher and three infant siblings.
