Janet Sue Rentfro, 77, of Mode, IL, passed away at 12:46 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, in HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Janet was born on May 15, 1944, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Lester and Olive Mae (Gordon) Reynolds. She attended Shelbyville schools and then continued her education at Decatur School of Nursing. Janet was a registered nurse who had a gift for taking care of others and always putting others needs ahead of her own. She spent most of her nursing career as a traveling nurse where she was able to combine her love of nursing and traveling. Before her passing, she was employed at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Phi Beta Kappa. She enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, traveling and shopping.

Janet will lovingly be remembered by her children: Sterling Lee (Crystal) Rentfro of Lovington, Carla Yvette (Larry) Johnston, Stephanie Cox, and Christopher Alan (Renee) Rentfro, all of Shelbyville; sister, Myra Ulmer of Shelbyville and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved four-legged companion, Apollo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gordon Reynolds; sister, Debra Fitzgerald; great-granddaughter, Alexis Williams; brother-in-law, Scott Ulmer and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
