Irene Helen Latch, 99, of Stewardson, IL passed away at 7:50 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, in the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.

Irene was born on December 27, 1921, in Big Spring Township, the daughter of Joel Minor and Frieda Alma (Pardieck) Quicksall. She married Ervin Latch on April 2, 1944, and together they shared 37 years of marriage before his passing on January 21, 1982. As a young woman Irene worked as a housekeeper for several families in the Stewardson area. After raising her family, she worked as a seamstress at Felicity Fashions in Sullivan and Kern Manufacturing in Neoga. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, Trinity Ladies Aid and the Sewing Circle of Stewardson. Irene’s passion was sewing but she also enjoyed painting and gardening.

She is survived by her five children: Don (Patsy) Latch of Effingham, Virginia (Charles) Vogel of Effingham, Beverly (David) Suckow of Altamont, Diane (Alan) Crutcher of Montrose and Doris (David) Huffmaster of Stewardson; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Edward Quicksall and sister-in-law, Eileen Quicksall.

A public visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in Trinity Lutheran Church followed by a private, family only, funeral service with Reverend David Weaver officiating. Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran School or the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.
