Joan Lee Pruden, 92, of Altamont, died at 2:01 a.m. Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials may be made to The Whoo Hoo Sisterhood, Effingham County Humane Society or the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joan was born on Monday, October 15, 1928 in St. Elmo, IL to Harlan and Delma (Miller) Ogle. She married Robert Eugene Pruden on March 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death on February 3, 1987. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Grayville and an honorary member of The Whoo Hoo Sisterhood. She was a secretary for Oil Field Motors, co-owner at the Delux Flower Shop, both of Grayville. Joan was a co-librarian at the Altamont Public Library and she loved to read, especially history about Abraham Lincoln and also enjoyed traveling with her family.

She is survived by; her son, Terry (Pam) Pruden, Springfield, MO; daughter, Diedre ‘Dee’ (Barry) Horste, Altamont; grandchildren, Chris Horste, Altamont, Julie (Nick) Hummel, Lake Saint Louis, MO and Hannah Pruden, Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Elaine, Audrey and Jack Hummel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
