Stephen A. Jones (77) of Effingham

Stephen A. Jones, 77, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham IL.

Private family services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Please wear a mask for all services and practice social distancing guidelines. Memorials may be made to Kidney Transplant and Diabetes Associations. Stephen was born on October 15, 1943, in Shreveport, LA, the son of John and Evelyn (Boff) Jones. He married Joy Willenborg in 1969. Stephen graduated from Taylorville High School, Milliken University with a BA degree and Eastern Illinois University with a MA degree. He taught high school for 8 years, was an insurance broker for Mutual of Omaha for 28 years, and for many years taught violin, piano, and guitar lessons. Stephen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. For many years he played the violin for the FACE Orchestra. He enjoyed listening to his grandchildren play their musical instruments. He also enjoyed watching the History channel on TV. Stephen enjoyed visiting with his friends at Niemerg’s.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Joy Jones; daughters, Dana Milan and Susan Claerbout; grandchildren, Lauren, Drew, Nicholas, and Grace Claerbout, Elizabeth, Brett, and Alexander Milan; and sister, Carmi Jones.
