Lonnie J. Ryan, 74, of Montrose, IL, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Montrose. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Montrose with military rites. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Please wear a mask for all services and practice social distancing guidelines. Lonnie was born on March 20, 1947, in Effingham, IL, the son of Melvin E. “Pat” and Madonna (Taylor) Ryan. He served his country in the United States Army retiring as Sergeant Major after 22 years of service. For Lonnie, a love of fishing was an understatement. He enjoyed sharing this love with his buddies and grandchildren. In the past, Lonnie enjoyed coon hunting. He was the foundation of his family and would help those in need.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Mona Ryan; children, Rodney Ryan, Todd Ryan, Chad Ryan, Rosie Santos, Jose Santos, and Lori Vasquez; thirteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Phil (Linda) Ryan; and sister-in-law, Wanda Faye Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Larry Ryan and Richard (Nina) Schmidt.
