Eldor Klitzing, 90, of Effingham, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Altamont. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the donors choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eldor E. Klitzing was born on Monday, October 6, 1930 in rural Altamont to Herman and Elenora (Ziegler) Klitzing. He married Dorothy Heuerman on December 4, 1981 and she preceded him in death in 2004. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Effingham and had served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong farmer, long-time employee in the maintenance department at Keller Oil Co., Effingham and had worked for Natural Gas Services.

Eldor is survived by his stepchildren; Linda Sweetland of Effingham, Judy Amacher of Effingham, Jerry (Lisa) Heuerman of Teutopolis, Richard (Jane) Heuerman of Tiplersville, MS, James Heuerman of Teutopolis, Donna (Rick) Roedl of Effingham, Wayne Heuerman of Fairfax, MO, Darlene Detmer of Effingham, Barbara (Danny) Shelton of Effingham, and Roger (Martha) Heuerman, Oklahoma City, OK; many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, stepchildren; Daniel Heuerman and Lisa McIntyre; siblings; Laverne Koeberlein, Bernice Schroeder, Edgar Klitzing, Milton Klitzing and Delmar Klitzing.
