Robert R. Roedl (Bob), age 65, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by his family.

A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Homes, Edgewood with burial at St. Anne’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Pagel Funeral Homes, Edgewood. Memorial donations may be given to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the donor’s choice. Bob was born July 29, 1956 in Effingham, IL, the son of Mearl and Vera (Cox) Roedl. He married Karen Simmons on Saturday, November 15, 1980. For 12 years, Bob and Karen followed their passion and ran Et Vas Alt Antiques in Altamont where they met many friends and fellow enthusiast. After years of working on dairy farms, Bob began employment at Siemer Milling Company and eventually retired in 2019 after 21 years of service and finally got to become a full-time gardener. You would most likely find Bob out in his gardens cultivating his flowers, sharing his knowledge with neighbors, or spending time making memories with his grandchildren. If you knew Bob you would know that he was a genuinely honest, kind, giving, strong, hardworking, caring, loving, and helpful person. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone in any way he could.

Though life will never be the same without him, his memory and legacy will live on through his family and all the people whose lives he touched along the way.

Bob is survived by his wife, Karen of Altamont, IL; daughters, Charity Roedl of Altamont, IL, Lea Ann (Ray) Loveall of Chadwick, MO, Amy Roedl of Altamont, IL, Amanda (Luke) Grobengieser of Mason, IL, and Lacy Roedl of Effingham, IL; siblings, Kay (Ray) Lindsey of Oakwood, OH, Lynn (Evelyn) Roedl of Edgewood, IL, Joe (Mary) Roedl of Edgewood, IL, and Henry Roedl; 8 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mearl and Vera (Cox) Roedl; brother Ronald Roedl; grandparents, Jacob and Caroline Roedl and Ray and Dorthy Cox.
