Ruby Irene “Ruboo” Tabor, 87, of Effingham, IL, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at First Christian Church in Effingham with David McConnell officiating. Burial will be in Drummond Cemetery in Neoga. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Please wear a mask for all services and practice social distancing.

Ruby was born on January 21, 1934, in Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Lon A. and Rose Mae (Holley) Ballinger. She married Bryon D. Robison in 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1959. She later married Clarence Leroy Tabor in 1961, and he preceded her in death in 2004.

Ruby enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at family get-togethers. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports. Ruby was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who never missed a game.

Ruby is survived by her children, Vicki Pals of Effingham, Debra Apke of Effingham, and Mike (Diane) Tabor of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Tammy (Mark) Winters of Augusta, IL, Heather (Justin) Antrim of Teutopolis, Todd (Cheryl) Apke of Effingham, Heidi (Ron) Goldstein of Teutopolis, Derek (Celeste) Tabor of Evansville, IN, and Brett Tabor (fiancée, Kelly Jansen) of St. Louis, MO; great-grandchildren, Cody Myers, Austin (Billie) Myers, Brayden Winters, Brock Winters, Levi Winters, Trenton Hoelscher, Zach Apke, Jordan Voris, Bailey Voris, Bryce Batchlor, Madison Goldstein, Tate “T.J.” Tabor; great-great-grandson, Colson Hoelscher; brother, Bill “Pete” Ballinger; brother-in-law, Wendell Traub; and sister-in-law, Peggy Ballinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ronald J. Apke; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda “Pork” (Clifford) West; sister, Judy “Sis” Traub; brothers, Donald Ballinger and Robert Lee Ballinger Sr., sister-in-law, Carol Ballinger; and good friend, Eldon Ooton.
