Lynn Robert Marvin (71) of Newton

It is with great sadness that the family of Lynn Robert Marvin announce his passing on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the age of 71.
He was born April 16, 1950, in Kankakee, IL, the son of George W. and Wanda N. Marvin.
Lynn will be lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 18 years, Sue Marvin of Newton, IL; brother, Tony (Kathy) Marvin of Edgewood, IL; stepchildren, Rachel (Nick) Rose of Sullivan, IL, Heather (Jake) Chancellor of Toledo, IL, and Mitch (Elizabeth) Overbeck of Effingham, IL; grandchildren, Lane, Jacob and Lauren Rose, Evan Overbeck, and Avery Chancellor; nieces, Heather (Justin) Koester of Dieterich, IL and Amber (Nick) Niebrugge of Effingham, IL; and great nieces Reagan and Lauren Niebrugge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Wanda N. Marvin.
Lynn honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1970 – 1974. He was employed as a truck driver for many years before finishing out his working years for the American Red Cross. After retirement, he worked part-time with West Liberty Equity and enjoyed it very much. Lynn had a passion for music, that at times, was all consuming. He was an accomplished guitar player who also designed and built his own amplifiers. Lynn loved his family deeply and cherished many friendships. Being a Papa was one of his greatest joys. Papa Lynn found humor in unique topics and situations.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL.
