Linda K. Miller of Newton passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 in Dieterich, Illinois as a result of an auto accident.

Memorial services celebrating Linda’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Chris Parr officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until time of service Thursday, September 2, in the funeral home. Private family interment services will be held at a later date.

Linda was born on July 21, 1949 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She was the daughter of LeRoy “Chub” and Sylvia Slane. As a child, Linda had a special relationship with her grandmother Faye Slane, who helped raise her.

On January 30, 1976, Linda married Lloyd L. Miller. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1991. In additional to being a wife and mother, Linda was a cosmetologist. In addition to working in a salon, Linda served as a product rep and later as an instructor at Olney Central College. She was currently working part-time at Stacy’s Creative Styles in Newton and Sally’s Beauty Supply in Effingham. In her free time, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Linda also loved spending time with her dachshund, Jargon. Sadly, Jargon passed away with her in the accident.

Linda will be loved and remembered by daughters, Leasa (Kendall) Johnson, Laura (John) Birch and Amanda Webster all of Newton; grandchildren Tiffany (Curtis) Will, Garrett (Meredith) Birch, Emilee (Caleb) Chesnut, Conner Webster, Caylie Webster and Landon Webster; great-grandchildren Reagan Birch, John Birch, Weston Will and Hattie Will; sisters Marsha (Terry) Paul, Verna (Johnny) Griffith, Vanessa Slane and Vellena (Tony) Schmidt all of Newton; sister-in-law Debbie Slane of Olney and several nieces and nephews and special friend Roger Leohr of Newton.

Her parents, grandparents, husband Lloyd, brother Ron Slane, step-son Robert Miller preceded her in death.
