Erma Berg, 67, of St. Elmo, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. John Heicher officiating and cremation will follow. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Effingham County Humane Society, E.A.R.S./Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary or the donor’s choice. Covid-19 protocol including, but not limited to, face covering and social distancing will be required at all times while in the funeral home.

Erma Dell Berg was born on Thursday, December 3, 1953 in the St. Elmo, Hospital to Charles and Marjorie (Myers) Logue. She married Robert Berg on August 6, 1977 in St. Elmo. She was a member of Post Oak and Locust Grove United Methodist Churches. She worked at World Color Press as a computer operator for 20 years, as an optician at Wal Mart Vision Center and assisted on the family farm. In her younger years, she was a seamstress, enjoyed crafts and decorating cakes. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses, enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered as a kindhearted, loving, caring, always happy lady that loved watermelon and could have eaten it every day.

She is survived by: her husband of over 44 years, Robert of St. Elmo; daughter, Crystal Berg of Effingham; sister, Janice (James) Garrison of St. Elmo; brother, Harvey Logue of Styker, Ohio; brother-in-law, Joseph Vogel of Decatur.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Second father, Everett Blurton, sister, Ruth Vogel.
