Carter A. Jones, 27, of Clay City passed away unexpectedly at 1:25 p.m. Saturday, August 21. 2021 at the SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Carter was born on August 17th, 1994 to Scott and Moria Jones in Effingham, IL. After graduating from Mattoon High School in 2013, he had three beautiful children with his high school sweetheart, Alicia Simpson.

Carter was his family’s protector, the apple of his mom’s eye, his dad’s everything, his sister’s Superman, his kid’s whole world, and Alicia’s big baby. He loved to make everyone around him laugh, scaring anyone he could, hunting and fishing with his dad, Grandpa Chuck and Uncle Jeff, gaming with his friends, showing off his intelligence and being with his friends and family.

He is survived by his fiancé, Alicia Simpson of Clay City, IL, his two daughters, Journee and Bryndall Jones, his son, Ryott Jones, his three sisters, Cierra Jones of Flora, IL, Shelbey Young, of Louisville, IL, Korey Kessler of Louisville, IL, his nieces and nephews, Sohvi Fisher, Sky Kessler, Jesse Fisher, Storm Kessler, Rogun Fisher, Silver Kessler and Hendrix Landreth, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandma Nana, Grandma Carter and paternal grandparents, Chuck and Sheila Jones.

Carter was the type of person you can’t describe. He was the light of our lives and will be missed dearly.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at 7205 Jamison Road, Alma, Illinois 62807. A memorial firework display will be let off every year for the 4th of July in remembrance of Carter. The McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville is assisting the family with the arrangements.
