Eldon Lock, 73, of St. Elmo, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 at his home.

A private family graveside service will be held Friday, September 3 at St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Cemetery, rural Altamont with military rites. Gieseking Funeral Home of Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Eldon was born December 29, 1948 in Champaign, IL to the late Roy and Laverne (Klitzing) Lock. He grew up in Altamont and was a graduate of Altamont Community High School’s class of 1967. Following school, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was married to Ruth Ann Bryant from 1973 to 1995 and worked for area businesses including Beccue Builders and R&H Plumbing before retiring from Bi-Petro Oil. He was an active member of the NRA and, in his earlier years, enjoyed spending time on the golf course, fishing and shooting with friends and family. 

He is survived by; his sons, Jeremy (Hollie) Lock of Pilot Point, TX and Ethan (Adrianna) Lock of Alton; daughter; Jamie (Brent) Escoubas of Santa Rosa, CA; brothers, Marc (Diana Turner) Lock of Altamont and Kevin (Pam) Lock of Effingham; five grandchildren, Cooper, Carter, and Colton Lock and Ryken and Aria Escoubas and a host of friends that he enjoyed reminiscing with throughout his life.
