Kenneth D. Trimble, age 96, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 5:28 AM Sunday, August 15, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services celebrating Kenneth’s life will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Pastor Caleb Trimble, Pastor Zachary Trimble and Pastor Amy Jeffries officiating. Burial will be in the Gila Lutheran Cemetery near Gila, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the funeral home. Kenneth was born on February 10, 1925, on the family farm, near Gila, Illinois, the son of Clay and Lucy (Myers) Trimble. He married Betty Louise Grove on June 1, 1946, and she preceded him in death on January 1, 2011. He later married Lillian (Bailey) Phillips on April 14, 2016, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2019.

Kenneth graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1942. He was a lifelong farmer.

Kenneth was community minded and was always willing to lend a hand. He had served on the Jasper County Board, where he served as chairman; Jasper County Housing Authority Board, Jasper County Tax Assessor of Review, and road commissioner of Grove township.

Kenneth was a member of the former Gila Lutheran Church and a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

Kenneth was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveled each year with his family to Canada for the annual family fishing trip. He also enjoyed hunting.

Kenneth is survived by: Children – Robin (Jack) Pitcher of Montrose, Illinois; Tony (Deania) Trimble of Newton, Illinois; Kieth (Amy) Trimble of Montrose, Illinois; Kim (Richard) McBride of Eddyville, Kentucky and Mary (Glenn) Frohning of Newton, Illinois; Step Sons – Alan (Nanette) Phillips of Evansville, Indiana and Bruce (Patricia) Phillips of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 16 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wives, sons Bruce (wife Carol) and Ricky Trimble and 3 brothers Hal, Gerald and Parker Trimble.
