Ethel Adelaide ”Addie” Wright 96, of Mattoon, Illinois, formerly of Neoga, Illinois and Stockton, California, passed away peacefully at Odd Fellow Rebekah Harmony Center on Sunday, August 8, 2021.

Addie was born on August 11, 1924 in Gays, Illinois, to Alonzo C. And Ella C. Maxedon. She married Earl W. Poe on September 21, 1941. She later married William Daniel “Dan” Wright on June 13, 1975. He proceeded her in death on October 5th, 2005 after 30 years of marriage. During her early years, Addie was a homemaker, worked as a seamstress at Kern Mfg. in Neoga, Illinois and at General Electric Lamp plant in Mattoon, Illinois. Addie was also a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church in Neoga, IL. and the Salvation Army Auxillary in Mattoon, IL. Addie's greatest accomplishment was being a mother to 6 children of whom she was very proud. Addie will always be remembered for her love of God, love of family, beautiful smile and her loving arms that held many children and grandchildren.

Addie leaves her children Marilyn Rentfrow (Ron) and Pamela Baker (Jon) of Neoga, IL, Earl W. Poe, Jr. (Ladora) of Marshall, IL, and Thomas J. Poe (Traci) of Villa Grove, IL. daughter in law Susan Poe of Roanoak, Texas, Daniel S. Wright and J. Michael Wright (Vivian) of Stockton, CA. 24 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 38 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse William Wright, infant son John Max Poe, daughter Carole Poe Yoder and son David Poe. Brothers Dwight, Victor and A. Harlan Maxedon and sisters Adeline Kimery and Agnes O’Dell.

Memorials May be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank her caregivers at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home for the loving care they provided to Addie in her last year of life.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday August 12, 2021 at the Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery, Neoga, IL. Family requests casual wear.
