Miss Cleora Mae Kopplin, 79, of rural Altamont, Illinois, entered into her heavenly home on Friday, August 6, 2021, while a patient at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday Morning August 10 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul “Blue Point Lutheran Church, rural Altamont with the Rev. David R. Speer officiating. Christian Burial Rites will be conducted at Blue Point Lutheran Cemetery, Altamont immediately following the funeral service.

Cleora was born on Friday, April 17, 1942, in the home of her parents, Gilbert and Ella (Wending) Kopplin of Moccasin Township, rural Effingham County, near Altamont, Illinois.  She was the youngest of seven children and spent her entire life in the home in which she was born. Cleora was baptized at St. Paul Blue Point Lutheran Church on May 3, 1942. Cleora attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and confirmed her faith in her Lord on March 25, 1956. Her confirmation verse, John 14:6 had a very special meaning to her. She graduated with the class of 1960 from the Altamont High School. Cleora, or “Orie”, as many of her family members called her, was a student of the Bible and memorized her siblings’ confirmation verses, as well as many of her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She would, on many occasions, quiz them to make sure they had them fresh in their memory. Bible study and hymn recitation was a regular part of her daily devotional time, even as she struggled in the hospital the last days. She loved the Lord and shared the love of Jesus, as she taught the Kindergarten Sunday School class for many years. As her parents aged, she accepted the role as caregiver, and provided many years of devotion to their care. She also was so diligent about remembering birthdays and special occasions and included a Bible verse or personal poem written just for you in many of her cards and letters. She was soft spoken and never wanted attention given to her, but looked forward little visits, cards and letters sent by family and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul “Blue Point” Lutheran Church KFUO church radio, and or the choice of the Donor.

Cleora will be missed and remembered fondly by her siblings: 2-Brothers: Willard Gilbert (wife, Jeanette) Kopplin of Altamont, Illinois, Lawrence Delbert (wife, Gladys) Kopplin of Altamont, Illinois; 3-Sisters: Eileen Jeanette Montonye of Florissant, Missouri, Bernetta Lulu (husband, Bob) Marxman of Effingham, Illinois, and Naomi Delores (husband, Norman) Kirchhofer of Shumway, Illinois; Sister-in-law: Beverly “Bev” Ann  Wolff - Kopplin of Effingham, Illinois; Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
