Isabelle “Sally” Clara Evans, 92, of Cowden, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 in the comfort of her home.

Sally was born on August 1, 1929, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of William and Ella (Earl) Banning. Sally and Oran Francis Evans were united in holy matrimony on December 2, 1946 and were blessed with 63 years of marriage before his passing on April 22, 2010. Sally was a homemaker. When not tending to the family, she could be found working alongside Francis at the Lime and Fertilizer plant or preparing meals for all the workers. She was long-standing member of the First Christian Church in Cowden. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, time spent with family and cards if she was winning.

She is survived by five children, all of whom felt her love and dedication: Ella Evans of Shelbyville, Cindy (Jim) Moore, Barbara Bennett, Marsha (Monty “Zonk”) Mahaffey and Joe (Denise) Evans, all of Cowden; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother; husband; son-in-law, Ernie Bennett; one grandchild; one great-grandchild and brother, William Banning.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the First Christian Church of Cowden with Pastor Nate Harper officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service in the church. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Sally’s name to the Cowden First Responders and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Cowden is assisting the family.
