Jon Mark Fulton, age 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday August 7th at the Hidalgo Independent Christian Church in Hidalgo. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Friday at the church.

Mark, the beloved son of Francis and Ilah Fulton was born January 23, 1946. He spent his entire life in Hidalgo, except for five years in Belvidere, Il. where his dad was farming. The family relocated back to the Hidalgo area in 1956 where Francis resumed farming in Jasper County. He married Sheryl James August 6, 1967. To this union three sons were born, Jon (Meredith), Grant deceased, (Terry), and Jason (Michelle). His grandchildren were the lights of his life, Grant, Gabe, Dexter, Quincy, and Penelope. Step grandchildren, Ashley (Isaiah) Dunn, Bubba (Nicole) Scully and six step great grandchildren.

Mark spent six years in the Effingham Unit National Guard. He was a lifelong member of the Hidalgo Independent Christian Church, serving as a Deacon and teaching Sunday School for many years. Graduating from Newton High School’s class of 1964, Mark was the center of the undefeated 1962 season varsity football team. He served as the Awana Sparks leader for 24 years where the kids affectionately called him “Sparky Marky”. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Hidalgo, was a member of the Farm Bureau Board, FSA Committee Board of Jasper County and served 8 years on the National Corn Growers Board.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and son Grant.
