Lucille Evelyn “Lucy” Barlow, age 88, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 9:10 PM Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Willowbrook Memory Support Residences of Effingham.

Funeral Services celebrating Lucy’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday August 3, 2021 at Meyer Funeral Home, Dieterich, Illinois with Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will be in the Dieterich Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday August 2, 2021 at Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. In loving memory of Lucy, memorials may be made to Dieterich Christian Church. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed and condolences left by clicking here.

Lucille affectionately known as “Lucy” was born on August 1, 1932, in Dieterich, Illinois, the daughter of Andrew Earl and Amelia (Gerth) Lewis. She married the love of her life, Floyd Barlow, on October 20, 1952 in Dieterich, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2021. Lucy was a homemaker, who also help babysit several children in her lifetime. She worked alongside her husband Floyd in the Barlow Café business. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding and watching her birds, sewing, dancing, and cooking. But most of all canning her big supplies of tomato juice. She loved making pies for any event. In her later years, Lucy and Floyd could always be seen throughout the town going for car rides, another of Lucy’s favorites. She was a member of the Christian Church in Dieterich, Illinois.

Lucy will be loved and remembered by her 5 daughters - Cathy Bierman of Newton, Illinois; Cindy (Mike) Overbeck of Teutopolis, Illinois; Susie (Jesse) James of Newton, Illinois; Sharon (John) Kemme of Casey, Illinois and Lisa (Kevin) Pruemer of Dieterich, Illinois; Grandchildren - Zak Bierman, Kurt Bierman, Angie Goebel, Scott Bierman, Jared Bierman, Doug Bierman, Staci Bierman, Heather Case, Sarah French, Chris James, Jodi Mulvey, Casey James, Nathan Barlow, Tara Probst, Riley Pruemer, and Jadyn Pruemer; 32 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters - Mildred Bonnell and Marie Meyer.

Preceding her in death was her husband Floyd Barlow, brothers, sisters, and granddaughter Maggie Goebel.
